Yesterday, I realized that abundance cannot be created nor activated. It can only be revealed because …
Life IS Abundance:
The air you breathe flows abundantly into, within and beyond your body
The stars twinkle brightly in a “no where do we end” fashion
The trees root assuredly to the earth and majestically towards the sky – grounded, elevated abundance
If you have children, there’s an abundance of snarky comments and goofy looks available to you.
So, more accurate considerations for this blog title include:
5 Ways to Realize Abundance in Your Life
5 Ways to Awaken to the Abundance in Your Life
5 Ways to Allow Abundance in Your Life
I’m actively awakening to and receiving abundance in all areas of my life.
Specifically, I am co-creating structures, systems and habits that support financial well-being. This includes doing away with belief systems rooted in lack mentality and unworthiness, and opening my eyes to the wealth of insight, resources and beauty that is always around.
Below I share 5 tips to help you awaken to the abundance that exits within and throughout (just like the air we breathe).
If you struggle with doubt, lack, feelings of unworthiness and would like to shift to feeling empowered, supported and ready to fully participate in the bounty of life, these tips are for you:
- Spend time in nature & observe the natural world:
The natural world is naturally abundant. Create time everyday to observe the vastness of the sky, the fluid movement of the clouds (an abundance of vaporized water molecules!), the color variations of leaves and flowers. Include the observation of human behavior as we humans are a member of the natural world too! Notice the different colors, body shapes, voices, accents and behaviors in which the human being is expressed. Notice clothes, style and walking swagger. Notice the judgements that show up in you as you observe. As you notice, try to be neutral and appreciative. Life is diverse and there is no one way to do, look, be or think. Homogeny is death. The universe thrives on diversity and abundance.
- Be with what is ~ aka eliminate the “shoulds” in your mindset:
Notice how you feel when the word “should” shows up in your mind content and speech. As in “I should be … (insert your statement here) … at this stage of my life by now.” “Shoulds” come with a tone of control, condemnation, self-deprecation and doubt. “Should” is not a feel good word. When it shows up, it diminishes your power to connect with the beauty and abundance of what is. It immediately activates feelings of lack and loss. Mindfulness meditation is the practice of being with what is. This connection brings clarity and acceptance. Acceptance reduces suffering and activates your empowerment as you realize the beauty of the moment and the abundance of choices and possibilities available in every moment.
- Practice receiving:
This is powerful. Start with the breath and how you are experiencing the pervasive intelligence of your body which finds homeostasis in each moment. You don’t have to earn this ability, it just is. Receive this wisdom of life force energy. When a friend offers to buy your tea or pay for your meal say yes. Give yourself the opportunity to receive and allow your friend the opportunity to give. Struggling with the gift, or saying no blocks the flow of life force energy. Consider yourself a vessel and conduit for this chi and allow it to be.
- Document abundance and give thanks:
Find yourself a lovely, attractive journal and cultivate a daily writing practice where you document what you experienced in the day – the abundance you observed and the bounty you received and shared. Allow this positive attitude to be the attitude of gratitude. Give thanks for this amazing journey called life.
My personal practice includes a success journal and in it, I write five daily successes. Three must include non-material successes such as how I took a moment to bask in the sunshine and look at the ocean. Or, a beautiful connection with my daughter; a profound insight received and shared. This daily ritual helps me to realize how much I experience and accomplish in a day. This is especially important as it is quite easy to feel that the day drifted by without checking enough items off the “to do” list.
I’ve now shifted my daily success journaling to include three things that I value about myself. This includes how I value my beautiful, strong legs and how they allow me to dance and travel around the world. I received the Self Value Journal insight while reading Money, A Love Story by Kate Northrup. It’s a great way to cultivate a positive attitude and to bring the feel good vibe of abundance into your life, home, business and community.
- Give ~ “The more I need, the more I need to give”:
(Big thanks to Lisa Goettel, my soul sister and retreat co-facilitator for sharing this morsel of wisdom with me.)
Nothing dispels rigid feelings of doubt and unease like stepping outside of yourself and focusing on another. This is a great approach for reducing suffering. If you are feeling crappy about yourself volunteer, teach a class, call a loved one and tell them you care. Give of yourself and allow the benefit of others to be your focus. Same with money. If you need more money give money – donate, tithe. But also give more value to the world. Share more of yourself. Speak your insights. Tell your story. Craft your process. Publish your works of art.
Hoarding diminishes your experience of abundance and playing small doesn’t serve anyone.
Activate these five steps today, right now. Start with observing nature, include experiencing your breath, watch your neighbors in the natural world and watch your thoughts. Keep your palms open to receive while you simultaneously release what no longer serves you. Give thanks and share your gifts with the world.
In the comment area below, share with me your tips for realizing abundance. Also include your experiences with working with the tips above.
Practice #5 right now and share this post with your community. I thank you in advance.
